MADHAVA MENON, N.R.

N.R. Madhava Menon was an Indian civil servant, lawyer. Being the founder of National Law Universities, he is considered by many as the father of modern legal education in India. Having completed his graduation, he continued his education in law. Menon started his career as a junior lawer in 1955 he started practice at the district court in Thiruvananthapuram. One year later, Menon was selected to the Civil Service and took up the job at Central Secretariat in New Delhi. While working at the Central Secretariat, he continued his studies at Campus College located at Gole Market, affiliated to Punjab University and secured a post graduate degree (MA) in political science with distinction. Afterwards, Menon joined Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University for further studies in law and passed the master's degree in law (LLM) and joined Ph.D course. He obtained Ph.D. in 1965, as the first Ph.D. fellow of Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University. In 1968, Menon joined his alma mater, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, as a professor and later as a Reader in the University of Delhi. When the Bar Council of India decided to establish a new law school in early 1980s, Menon's services were sought and he is known to have set up the Bangalore-based National Law School of India University (NLSIU), which was the first in India and later became the mainstream form of legal education in India. Menon worked at NLSIU for twelve years as its Director. In 1998, Menon was invited by the Government of West Bengal to set up the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) on the lines of the Bangalore initiative. As the founder Vice-Chancellor, he developed its infrastructure and educational curriculum and held the post till 2003. Thereafter, he was appointed by theSupreme Court of India as the first Director of the newly formed National Judicial Academy, a training centre for judges he where he worked till his retirement in 2006. After retiring from active government service in 2006, Menon was appointed by the Union Government as a member of the Commission on Centre-State Relations, He also served as the Chairman of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, the Chairman of the Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram, member of Law Commission of India, member of the Committee on Restructuring of Higher Education in India as well as the Criminal Justice Reform committee, and head of a Commission constituted as per a Supreme Court order of April 2014 to submit recommendations on government advertisements. He was the Chancellor of the Guru Ghasidas University, Bilaspur, and a member of the Centre for Development Studies, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Dr. Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, Delhi, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, National Law University, Jodhpur, National Law University Odisha and the School of Law, Indira Gandhi National Open University. Apart from numerous research papers, he wrote several books, popular articles and monographs on a variety of legal subjects. Rule of Law in a Free Society, Nehru and Indian Constitutionalism, Reflections on Legal and Judicial Education A Handbook on Clinical Legal Education, The Transformation of Indian Legal Education- A Blue Paper,The Story of a Law Teacher: Turning Point are some of his works.Menon was conferred the Living Legend of Law Award by the International Bar Association in 1994. He received the degree of Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa) from the National Law School of India University. The Government of India awarded Padma Shri. He was posthumously awarded Padma Bhushan in 2020 for his contribution in the field of Public Affairs.
He passed away on 8th May 2019.

     
 

MADHAVI AMMA,KADATHANAT

Mother: Kalyani Amma
Kadathanat Madhavi Amma was an Indian poet, novelist and short story writer of Malayalam literature. She could receive formal education only up to 5th standard due to conservative attitude prevailing at that tume, but she received informal education from Kadathanattu Krishna Warrier in Sanskrit and from Moyyareth Sankaran in modern thoughts. Madhavi Amma started writing under the name, Pullancheri Madhavi, which she changed to Kadathanattu Madhavi Amma later. Her oeuvre comprises five poetry anthologies, two novels, two folk tales, a short story anthology and a short biography. Jeevitha thanthukkal, Kavyopaharam, Gramashreekal, Kanikkonna, Muthassante Kannuneeru and Orupiti Avilu are some of her notable works. Her poems have been compiled under one title, Kadahanattu Madhaviammyute Kavithakal. She won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi award, the Changampuzha Award and Ramashramam Award. She passed away on 24th December 1999

He was the Principal of Government Law College, Pondichery and the founder Director of Dr.Ambedkar National Law School, Bangalore. He was also appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of National University of Juridical Science (NUJS) University. Presently he is the Director of National Judicial Academy, Bhopal. Government of India awarded him ‘Padmasree’won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi award, the Changampuzha Award and Ramashramam Award.

G.Madhavan Nair is an internationally acclaimed space scientist. He has profound knowledge in space technology. He is the Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation. He is a leading light in shaping the programmes of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). He started career as Scientist in TERLS (Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station). He is the colleague of Dr.Vikram Sarabhai and Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, His Excellency the President of India. He was Director of VSSC and gave leadership in launching prestigious GSLV, PSLV, INSAT-3 and other Indian satellites. Mr.Shashikumar Nair (Dubai) Mrs. Sreekala Sethumadhavan Menon (Canada)K.Madhavan Nair is the Financial Controller for the famous Abu Dhabi Mall in Abu Dhabi. He was born in a village,Karuvatta near Haripad in Central Kerala. His education was at NSS HS, Karuvatta., S.D College Alappuzha. He went to Mumbai and took his Graduation and Post graduation from Chetana's Hazairmal College of Commerce, Bandra , Bombay University, He was one of the first official who worked for the progress and prosperity of the Rotana Hotels, as its First Financial Controller. He is an ardent believer of God and contributes liberally to many temples of Kerala and used to visit the temples/charity institutions in and around his native place on his holidays every year. He took initiative to construct the Family Temple, Sree Bhadra Devi at Karuvatta. He is popularly known as "Madhavettan" among his friends and well wishers. His life is fully dedicated to the uplift of downtroden and poor Keralites. He is the main source behind the famous "NAIR" Facebook group, which has a membership of more than 37,000. He is active with Science India Forum, NSS Abu Dhabi, and participate with the activities of many other socio cultural organizations‘

 

 

     
 

MADHU(MADHAVAN NAIR P)

Born in on 23 September 1933 at Trivandrum.

Popularly known as Madhu, Madhavan Nair is a cine artist, director, and producer. He was a prominent actor for about five decades starting from 1960s. He has acted in more than 375 films. He started his career as a Hindi lecturer in S T Hindu College and then Scott Christian College at Nagercoil. During that time he got admission in the National School of Drama. While studying at NSD, he became acquainted with Ramu Karyat, who offered him a role in his forthcoming film Moodupadam. After completing the course, Madhu went to Chennai to screen test for Karyat's film. While there, in 1963, he was offered a role in N N Pisharody's film, Ninamaninja Kalpadukal and this became his debut. He has expressed almost all facets of life through his various acting roles. He has also produced and directed a few films. He was awarded the Padma Sri by the Government of India in 2013 for his contributions towards the arts. He was honored with the J.C Daniel award by the Government of Kerala in 2004, for his outstanding contribution to Malayalam films. ‘Mini’ a children's movie produced by him, bagged the Indira Gandhi national award for the best picture on Family Welfare, at the 43rd National Film Awards 1995. He is the inaugural winner of the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Malayalam for his performance in Swayamvaram (1972), and has received three more Filmfare awards.He also won five Kerala State Film Awards.


 

MALABAR K.DAMODARAN (Keezhedath Damodara Menon)

Born in 1912. Malabar K.Damodaran was an orator, historian, writer and an eminent Marxist philosopher. His thoughts gave immense contribution to the Marxian phiolosophy. He was a scholar in Economics, Politics, Anthropology etc. He was the Secretary of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee for a short while. Later joined Communist party and became a guide to the left movement. Pattabakki, a drama written by him is famous and very popular. His other important works are Indiyuude Atmavu, Bharatheeya Thathwa Chinthakal.He died on 1 July 1976.

 

 
MALI

Born on 6 December 1915.
Father: T.K.Velu Pillai (Sadasya Thilakan). Mother: Panapillai Bhagavathi Pillai.
V.Madhavan Nair who is popularly known as Mali was a lawyer, journalist, musicologist, kathakali playwright, dramatist, editor and a pioneer in the radio broadcasting. But he is more known as a storyteller that attracted both children and adults. His style of story telling is so simple. He wrote thousands of stories from the epics, history, folklores for children of present and future. Mali Ramayanam, Mali Bharatham, Mali Bhagavatham, Puranakathamalika, Bala Sammanam, Padinjaran Balakathal, Bala Katha Malika, Janthusthan, Circus, Unnikale, Katha Parayam, Porattam are some of his wonderful works. The most popular attakkatha (kathakali play) Karnasapatham was authored by Mali. Mali’s Kerala Sangeetham is a reference book for students of carnatic music. Mali was tennis champion and a high jump record holder also. He was serving in the All India Radio for many years and he was the Station Director at the time of his retirement.

 

MALLOOR GOVINDA PILLAI

Born in 1878.
Father: Neelakantan Pillai. Mother: Malloor Kochu Parvathy Amma.
Malloor Govinda Pillai was an eminent advocate who specialized in criminal cases.   Due to his extra ordinary abilities he won recognition and fame.  He was elected as a Member of Sreemoolam Praja Sabha. He was also a noble worker who made substantial contribution to the Nair community.He died in 1969.

     
 

MALASIA RAMAKRISHNA PILLAI

Born on February 15, 1910 at Thiruvalla
Father: Kesava Pillai
Mother: Kunjukutty Amma
Ramakrishna Pillai was a poet in Malayalam literature, though by profession he was a medical practitioner. After his school education he obtained a certificate in medical practice from Madras (Chennai) and went to Malayasia. There he started his career as a medical practitioner in a hospital run by Dunlop group of companies. Attracted by the Indian National Army of Subhash Chandra Bose, he joined in it and became the Chairman of the Malaysia unit of Indian Independence League. He also served as the President of Malayali Samajam. In 1969 he returned to his native place and settled at Thalavadi, near Thiruvalla. Pillai was selected poetry as his field for literary activities. His poems have been compiled and published. He also translated plays of Rabindra Natha Tagore into Malayalam. He passed away on 8th April 1990.

     
 

MAMPUZHA MADHAVA PANICKER

Born in 1898 in Guruvayur
Mampuzha Madhava Panicker was a traditional Kathakali dancer and instructor. He was the former principal of the Kerala Kalamandalam University of Art and Culture in Cheruthuruthi. A disciple of Pattikkamthodi Ravunni Menon, doyen of Kathakali art form, Mampuzha received training in Kathakali from the very young Shri Madhava Panicker has been attached as Chief Artiste to various Palace troupes of Kathakali, such as at Punnathur, Katathanad and Nilambur. He was a Senior Kathakali Guru at the Kerala Kala Mandalam and Principal of the International Centre for Kathakali, New Delhi. Shri Madhava Panicker has also made noteworthy contribution to Kathakali by presenting Biblical themes, by introducing songs in Hindi, and by preparing condensed versions of full-length plays. For his eminence in the field of dance and his contribution to its enrichment, Shri Mampuzha Madhava Panicker won the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Kathakali. He passed away in 1973.

     
 

MANIYAN PILLA RAJU

Maniyanpilla Raju, whose real name is Sudheer Kumar is an actor and producer of Malayalam films. His debut film was Mohiniyaattam in 1976. He has played a variety of roles as a character actor, appearing in over 400 films. The name Maniyan Pilla Raju is derived from the character that he played in the film Maniyanpilla Adhava Maniyanpilla. He had secured diploma course in acting from Adyar Film Institute, Chennai. He has acted about 300 films and produced more than 10 films. He wrote a book titled Chirichum Chirippichum describing his memoirs. In 2019, he established a restaurant, Be @ Kiwizo in Kannur, which has Kerala's first robot servants.

     
 

MANCOMPU SIVASANKARA PILLAI

Born in 1922 at Moncompu
Mancompu Sivasankara Pillai was a reputed Kathakali artiste. He started his Kathakali training at the age of 13. Noted for his consummate depiction of pachcha, kathi[and minukku roles, he was a disciple of Kathakali maestro Chenganoor Raman Pillai. From 1948, he performed with Mrinalini Sarabhai's troupe. In 1966, he was inducted as a teacher in Kerala Kalamandalam, where he served till 1983. He has written on Kathakali and helped Guru Raman Pillai in bringing out a book on its training. He had co- authored an edition of Kathakali Pravesika, the oldest work on the art in verse. Sivasankara Pillai received the best Artiste Award of Kerala Kalamandalam in 1984 and has been a member of the Kerala Sangeet Natak Akademi. For his eminence in the field of dance and his contribution to its enrichment, he won the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Kathakali in 1985. He died on 20 March 2014.


 

MANMADHAN M.P.

Born in 1915.
Father: Kalleli Veettil Narayana Pillai. Mother: Mangalathu Veedu Saradamma.

Sri.Manmadhan toiled hard for the welfare of the society.  He was an excellent orator, respected teacher and a talented artist.  He was an embodiment of all virtues.  He was the Professor and Principal of NSS Colleges. He also served as the Registrar and General Secretary of NSS. He participated in Bhoodan Movement led by Acharya Vinobabhave. He was also the leader of Anti-liquor movement in Kerala. Died on August 14, 1994.

 

 

MAVELIKKARA KRISHNAN KUTTY NAIR

Born on 11th October 1920
Mavelikkara Krishnankutty Nair was a a vocalist who excelled in playing mrudangam. He was famous all over India for playing, Mridangam along with great classical musicians like M.S.Subbalakshnmi, Arayakkudi Ramanuja Iyyenkar, G.N.Balasubramanyam, Madhurmani Iyer, Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, K.S.Narayanan Swamy, Balamuralikrishnan, S.Balachandran etc. He also served as an artist in the All India Radio. He won Kerala Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. He received the Padma Shri from the Government of India. He passed away on 13th Januvary 1988.

     
 

MAVELIKKARA VELUKUTTY NAIR

Born 2 October 1926
Father: Muthukulam Kumara Pillai
Mavelikkara Velukutty Nair was a vocalist who excelled in playing mrudangam. He was one of the foremost students of Palaghat Mani Aiyer. After completing his studies under the guidance of Palaghat Mani Aiyer, for about 8 years, Velukutty Nair joined the Kerala State Government Service as Teacher in Mrudangam at Sri. Swathi Thirunal College of Music in 1959. He has the distinction of being the first teaching faculty at the mridangam department of the Sri. Swathi Thirunal College of Music, Trivandrum. He retired as Professor and Head, Department of Mrudangam from the same college in 1982. It was he who formulated the sylabus for mridangam that is being followed in the music colleges of Kerala even today. He had accompanied concerts of about four generations of leading exponents of Karnatic Music. Excellent fingering, soft accompaniment, and excellent knowledge of vocal music are the significant features of his mridangam accompaniment. Velukutty Nair won more than 25 awards including the prestigious awards like Sangeetha Kalaacharya title from Madras Music Academy, Central Sangeet Natak Akademi "Tagore Samman", Golden Jubilee Award from Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer foundation, Kerala Sangeetha NAataka Akademi Award,Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship, Gayaka Ratna title from Sri. Swathi Thirunal Sangeet Sabha. He passed away on July 25, 2012.

     
 
MEESAN (KRISHNA PILLAI.K.S.)
Born on March 12, 1914 at Thiruvananthapuram.
Father: P.Parameswara Kaimal. Mother: Kochammini Amma. K.S.Krishna Pillai was a satirist. He has written more than 100 works mainly satire and dramas. Bharatha Vanitha, Mr.Kombath, Tuition Master, Jeevitha Vijayam, Paradikkavithakal, SreenarayanaGuru (Ottamthullal), Kudumbasoothranam (Ottamthullal), Prathichaya, “Tto” are his main works.


     
 

MENON A.R

Born on April 6, 1886
Dr. A.R. Menon was a former physician who had rare distinction of becoming the first Minister for Health in the state of Kerala.  Though a medical man by profession, he was very much active in the social field also and evinced keen interest in the issues of common people.
Dr. Menon had served as a member of the Cochin Legislative Council from 1925 to 1945. During the period, he was the Minister for Rural Development for 5 years. After the integration of Travancore and Cochin, he was elected to the Travancore-Cochin Legislative Assembly in 1954. He had also served as Municipal Chairman of Trissur for 14 years and as the Chairman of Palakkad Municipality twice. In addition, he was a member of Madras University Senate.
In the election held after the state re-orgnisation, Dr. Menon was elected to the first Kerala Legislative Assembly cfrom Trichur constituency, as an Independent candidate and served as Minister for Health in the EMS ministry from 5.4.1957 to 31.7.1959. He was also elected to the as an Independent member from Parali constituency in the elections held onin 1960.  Dr. A.R. Menon passed away on 9.10.1960, while serving as a member.

     
 

MENON K.P.S.

Born on 18 October 1898.
Father: Kumara Menon. Mother: Janamma.
K.P.S. Menon was an eminent administrator and diplomat. He was a Padmabhushan laureate. He secured first rank and selected to Indian Civil Service and started career as Assistant Collector.  He was Secretary to Government, External Affairs, Indian Ambassador to China and Soviet Union.  He was also a member in UN Commission to Korea.  He authored “Delhi-Chunking” and “Russian Panorama”, two great works related to diplomacy. ‘Playing Tokyo’ and ‘Many Worlds’ are his other important works. Moscow University awarded him D.Lit.
 

 

 

MENON M.G.K.(Mambillikalathil Govinda Kumara Menon)

Born in1928.
Father: Sankara Menon. Mother:Mambillykalathil Narayanikutty Amma.
M.G.K.Menon is an outstanding scientist in the field of Atomic Energy. He conducted deep-rooted studies in physics especially in cosmic rays, which won international fame to him. He was the Director of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.  He also served as the Director General of Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Secretary of Science & Technology Board of the Government of India, and Advisor to Electronic Commission. He is the President of National Science Academy. Government awarded him Padmabhushan.

M.P.M.Menon (Muthal Puredath Muralidhra Menon) was an Indian diplomat. Upon graduation, Menon worked as a teacher and as a chemist for a few years.. Then he was selected under Short Service Commission during China War and served five years in the Indian Army. Thereafter, he was selected to Civil Service and joined Indian Foreign Service. Menon's first posting was in Warsaw, Poland. Thereafter, he served as Indian Ambassador Soviet Union, Bahrain, Maldives, Canada, United Arab Emirates, and Brazil. Menon passed away on 25 January 2013

P. N. Menon (Parppil Narayana Menon) was a diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. Menon first joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1947. He served as Consul-General of India in Lhasa, and later served as intermediary to the young Dalai Lama during the 1959 Tibetan uprising. He also served as the War Service Officer, Consul-General of India, Lhasa, First Secretary, Indian Embassy, Rome, Consul-General of India, Damascus, Director (External Publicity), Ministry of External Affairs,Consul-General, San Francisco, Ambassador to Cambodia, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary and Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Ambassador to Yugoslavia and Greece. He passed away on 22 June 1975 while serving as ambassador to Greece.

P.N. Menon was a filmmaker who heralded a new wave in Malayalam cinema and who gave significant contributions to liberate it from the clutches of drama. It was he who decided to shoot films outdoors rather than sticking to the limitations of a studio floor. Menon made his debut as director with the 1965 film Rosie. Immediately after completing his school studies, Menon went to Madras (now Chennai) and began learning at the School of Arts thee . Cinema was his dream and in search for opportunities in the film world led him to an assistant’s job in a production house. It was from there he studied all about cinema and he could develop a new perspective of his own. Menon went to Salem and joined Modern Studio as assistant director. Later, he returned to Chennai and became busy as an artist, especially promotional posters. He was gradually being noted as an art director. His poster designs became a hit in South Indian, Bollywood, and other Indian language films. He made his debut as art director in Ninamaninja Kalpadukal. When producer Mani Swami asked him if he could direct his forthcoming film, Rosie, Menon who was eagerly awaiting for a chance readily agreed and he directed his debut film. His films Olavum Theeravum and Chembarathy won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film in 1970 and 1972 respectively. Olavum heeravum, Kuttyedathi, Panimudakku, Chembarathi, Mappusakshi, Gayathri, Darsanam, Mazhakkaaru, Chayam, Odakkuzhal, Taxi Driver, Udayam Kizhakku Thanne, Devathai (Tamil), Archana Teacher, Anu (Tamil), Malamukalile Daivam, Kadamba, Glimpses of Kerala (Documentary), Asthram, Padippura, Nerkku Nere are his filsm. Menon’s films Gayathri and Malamukillile Daivam won National and State honours. Menon was honoured by the State government with the J. C. Daniel Award in 2001. He passed away on 9th September 2008.

R. V. G. Menon is an eminent technologist, educationalist and a well-known people's science activist. He did B.Sc (Engg.) in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram and M. Tech (Nuclear Engineering) from IIT Kanpur. His research interests are in the field of Renewable Energy and Rural Technology. He had taught in various state engineering colleges in Kerala as a faculty member, and retired in 1998 as the principal of Government College of Engineering. He has served as the director of the Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology and of the Integrated Rural Technology Centre. Menon also served as president of Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad, the "Peoples' Science Movement. He has been a member of Board of Studies and Academic Council, Senate and Syndicate in various Universities of Kerala and a member of various Expert Committees of the Government and State Planning Board. A renowned writer and science expert, he has numerous publications to his credit in the areas of energy, science, technology and society. He authored more than 10 books related to science and technology. The books written by him “An Introduction to the History and Philosophy of Science” and “Technology and Society” are considered as basic readings for students of science, technology and social sciences. He won the first Puduppally Raghavan Award in 2011.

Manjeri Narayanan Nambiar was an illustrious film actor in Tamil screen who dominated the industry in the role of villain for around 50 years. While he was still a child, his father died. He later moved to live and study in Ooty with his elder sister and brother-in-law.[1] He became interested in acting when he was 13 and he joined Nawab Rajamanikkam's troupe and thereafter, he had chosen acting as his profession. He acted in more than 1000 films in Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. He also appeared in an English film `Jungle', directed by William Burke. He passed away on 19th November 2008.

     
 

MOHAN KUMAR G

G. Mohan Kumar is a distinguished IAS Officer who has dedicated 38 years of his life to serving the country in various capacities, ranging from District Magistrate to the Defence Production Secretary of India. As an exceptional civil servant who rose from the ranks, he is renowned for his innovative initiatives and outstanding performance.
Mohan Kumar received his secondary education at the Government Model High School in Thiruvananthapuram. While pursuing a postgraduate degree in Chemistry at the University College, Thiruvananthapuram, he was selected for the IPS, although he ultimately decided not to join the service. In 1979, he was selected to IAS and joined the Odisha IAS cadre. He holds a postgraduate (M.Sc) degree in Chemistry as well as an MBA degree.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mohan Kumar has held various pivotal positions within both the Union Government and the Government of Odisha. He has served as the District Magistrate and Collector for the Odisha government, Director of the Odisha State Seeds Corporation (OSSC), Chief Executive of the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Authority, Secretary to the Governor of Odisha, Managing Director of the Odisha Small Industries Corporation, Chairman and Managing Director of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC), Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Principal Secretary to the Government etc.
Subsequently, he was appointed as the Chairman of the Marine Products Export Development Authority in the Government of India. He has also served as the Special Secretary to the Government of India under the Ministry of Water Resources and as the Union Steel Secretary. In May 2015, he assumed the charge of Union Defence Secretary, and in July 2018, he was additionally assigned the responsibility of Union Defence Production Secretary.
Currently, Mohan Kumar serves as the Dean of Academic Progression at Amrita Viswa Vidyapeeth, further contributing to the field of education and development.

     
 

MOHANLAL

Mother: Santhakumari.Mohanlal is one of the most versatile actors and has been lauded for his natural acting style and one of the finest actors in the country who can slip into any role easily. He is also a producer, playback singer, and distributor. He has had a prolific career spanning over four decades, during which he has acted in more than 340 films not only in Malayalam but in other regional Indian films also
Mohanlal made his acting debut as a teenager in the Malayalam film Thiranottam in 1978, but the film was not released for 25 years due to censorship issues. His screen debut was in the 1980 romance film Manjil Virinja Pookkal, in which he played the role of a villain. Subsequently, he played antagonistic characters in several films and gradually rose to supporting roles. Towards mid-1980s, he elevated as a leading actor and gained stardom after starring in a series of commercially successful films
Mohanlal has won five National Film Awards, nine Kerala State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards South and numerous other accolades. He won ‘Bharath’ award twice. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2019. He became the first actor to be awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army. Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit and the University of Calicut awarded honorary doctorate to him.
Mohanlal has been a goodwill ambassador for the government and other nonprofit organisations, mainly for public service ads and humanitarian causes. In 2007, he was made the goodwill ambassador of the AIDS awareness campaign by Kerala AIDS Control Society. In 2009, Mohanlal was appointed as the goodwill ambassador of Kerala State Athletics by the Kerala State Athletics Association. In 2010, Mohanlal accepted the plea of the Department of Industries and Commerce of the Government of Kerala to be designated as the goodwill ambassador of Kerala's handloom industries. In 2015, the Government of Kerala made him the Goodwill ambassador of "Subhayatra 2015", a project developed to create awareness on road safety. In 2016, he was again appointed as the Goodwill ambassador of "Mrithasanjeevani", another project by the Government of Kerala aimed at promoting organ.
Mohanlal has started and associated with several business ventures related to film production and distribution, restaurants and packaged spices among others. He owns Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments, a film distribution company. He started Vismayas Max, a film pre and post-production studio headquartered in Trivandrum and a college for dubbing artists at KINFRA Film and Video Park, Trivandrum, which was later taken over by Sohan Roy of Aries Group, and renamed as Aries Vismayas Max. He has produced films under the production house Pranavam Arts International.

Mohana hailed from an aristocratic Nair family Charupaara, in Trivandrum the capital city of Kerala State and now settled in Bengalaru. His career started with Interior contracting business based out of Dubai which progressed to speciality construction materials. He is a business development Professional with more than two decades of experience in Indian,Middle East & African markets into specialised building materials used in Construction R&D Infrastructure,Hospitals and Airports.In that capacity, he travelled extensively around Middle East,Africa and Eastern European countries.Currently he is the Area Manager India-Broen-Lab A/s,Trespa International BV.
Over the years, as his career moved around the world, with ever increasing business responsibilities, he began actively seek sage wisdom and advice from respected sources internally and externally and reached a multi faceted personality .
With due respect to other religions,he is a true Hindu and an ardent supporter and promoter of Hindu activities and culture.
Wife: Jolsna Mohana,working as SAP Specialist in Schneider Electric,a French multinational company providing energy and automation digital solutions for efficiency and sustainability.

B.MOHANACHANDRAN NAIR (B.M.C.NAIR)

B.M.C.Nair is a reputed diplomat and well-known novelist. He enriched Malayalam literature through his novels. He joined Indian Foreign Service in 1965. He was the indian High Commissioner of Mosambique, Switzerland, Jamica and Singapore. Later he was appointed as Indian Ambassador to Kuwait. After retirement, he is settled at Chennai and actively engaging in various social activities especially for the uplift of the Nair community. He has written eight novels. His famous novel "Kalika" was translated into Tamil. A film was alos produced based on this novel

     
 

MOHANAN.K.P

Mother: K.P.Leelavathy AmmaK.P.Mohanan is a politician, journalist and a social worker. He started his political career as a member of ISO, the Student’s Organization of socialist party and later became member of the socialist party. When the socialists merged with Janatha Party, he also joined in it and was elected as the secretary of the Yuva Janatha in 1982. He was active in the activites of the sports council also. He was elected as the President of Kunnothuparamba Grama Panchayat in 1988. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Panur Constituency in 2001, 2006 and 2011. He served as the Minster for Agriculture in the ministry led by Oommen Chandy from 2011 to 2016

     
 

K.MONIKANTAN NAIR (Dr)

He is a pragmatist and man of action. He has more than 30 years of teaching experience and has worked as an academician in many reputed govt. educational institutions (both General & Higher education) across Kerala. He acquired his Ph.D in Physical Education from Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram.He is a renowned educationalist and a real guru for the students and colleagues. He was a member of PSC Police selection board from 1997- 2014 and subject expert in PSC college faculty selection committee. He attended 3 International seminars. 5 National seminars, 6 International and National workshops and organized more than 6 International and National seminars. He was also a Program Officer of NSS and C-level certificate holder in NCC. He is a black belt holder in martial arts. He had participated in inter university athletic meet and Kerala amateur swimming championship. He whole heartedly welcomes suggestions and encourages the faculties, sub-ordinates and students to achieve new horizons in the field of education. He takes every experience as challenge and his achievements are actually a boost to others and perceive every such achievement as Services to Humanity.He leads the Sree Sankara National Institute of Educational Trust and New Jyothi Cultural and Educational Society. He is also the chairman of renowned educational institutions in Thiruvananthapuram district like Sri Sankara Central School and New Jyothi Central School (Senior Secondary). He is a man of simplicity and supports students from the underprivileged sections of the society,He passed away on 01 June 2023

 

 

MRINALINI SARABHAI

Mrnalini Sarabhai was a world famous dancer and internationally famous artist. She studied basic lessons of dance from Vishwabharathi. She completed here course in Bharathanatyam classical dance from Kalakshethram of Adayar and Kath Kali dance from Kerala Kala Mandalam. She was the first women dancer who won “Veera Shringala”. She was the wife of Late Dr.Vikram Sarabhai, the famous space scientis.
     
 

MUNSHI PARAMU PILLAI

Born in 1894 at Adoor

Popularly known as Munshi Paramu Pillai whose real name is Parameswaran Pillai, is considered as the ‘Kerala’s Bernard Shaw’. He was a multi-faceted personality who marked his foot-prints in the Malayalam literature as a playwright, journalist, humorist, scriptwriter, actor, organizer and teacher. Pillai received his primary education from schools in Peringanadu and Vadakkedathu Kavu. He spent his early days in the company of none other than EV Krishna Pillai, who was his neighbor and good friend. Paramu Pillai found employment soon after he passed out of seventh grade but he resigned in quest of an appropriate platform for expressing his talents as an artist. This quest took him to the theater group of Peringanattu and he started his career in plays and dramas. However, he returned to his teaching profession and he continued his cultural and literary activities by writing plays and satires. Acclaimed theater groups presented the plays penned by him on hundreds of stages and soon he won fame as a celebrated playwright and humorist. Ente Swaraj, Kallan Njana, Prajasam, Paraspara Sahayam, Prathibha, Madhuvidhu, Rahasyangal, Suprabha (2 Parts) are some of his major plays. He also wrote scripts for the films ‘Vanamala’, ‘Sandehi’, ‘Kanchana’, ‘Kaalam Maarunnu’ ‘Prasanna’ and ‘Thaskara Veeran.’ It was he who introduced Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair to Malayalam cinema. He published a few magazines such as Prasanna Keralam, Navarasan, Jwala and Sarasan. He used to publish numerous articles related to the contemporary social and political issues through these magazines. His magazines were seized and banned several times on account of his articles criticising the highhandedness of Sir.C.P.Ramaswamy Aiyer, the then Diwan of Travancore. He passed away on 17th June 1962.
     
 

MURALI

Born on 25th May 1954 at Kollam

Murali (Muraleedharan Pillai) was a film actor, stage actor, author, and politician. Murali was a law graduate and before his entry into the film field, he worked in the Government of Kerala and later in the University of Kerala. Murali was actively involved with Natyagriham, a drama venture started by actor Narendra Prasad. He was also associated with G. Sankara Pillai in theatre performances. Murali debuted in films with the lead role in Njattadi, directed by Bharath Gopi. But the film was not released. Later, he started his film career ascended to the status of a star in Malayalam cinema. He acted in about 200 films. Besides acting, he served as the Chairman of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy. Murali authored five books. His book on Kumaranasan, Abhinethavum Asan Kavithayum won the Sangeetha Nataka Academy award. He contested in the 1999 Lok Sabha polls as a Left Democratic Front candidate but failed. He was also the Director of the CPI(M) promoted television company Malayalam Communications. He is one of the founders of the Malayalam film actors association AMMA.

     
 

MURALIDHARAN.K

Born on 14th May 1957.

Mother: Kalyanikutty AmmaK.Muralidharan is a politician who started his career within the Congress party as a Seva Dal worker. He was elected as Member of Parliament from the Kozhikode constituency in the General Elections of 1989, 1991and 1999. Thereafter, he held the roles of General Secretary, Vice-President of Kerala Congress Committee (KPCC) and became the President of KPCC during 2001–2004. He left the Congress party in 2005 and joined along with his father in the Democratic Indira Congress (Kerala) and thereafter in the Nationalist Congress Party. However, he came back to his mother party. He was elected as Member of Parliament from Vadakara constitutency in the 2019 elections. In February 2004, Muraleedharan was inducted as the Minister of Power in the A. K. Antony Ministry, though he was not a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. He was required to win a seat within six months to continue as the minister but lost in by-election from Wadakkancherry. Subsequently, he resigned in May that year. He was elected as member of Legislative Assembly from Vattiyoorkkavu constituency in the general elections held in 2011 and 2016.

     
 

M.V.PILLAI,Dr.

Dr.M V Pillai. MD, FACP (Madhavan Velayudhan Pillai) is a renowned cancer specialist, who specialized in Internal Medicine, Hematology and medical Oncology in USA, and got certified by the American Boards in all three specialities. He is also well known as a writer, thinker, orator and a columnist.
Currently he is the President of International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research (INCTR-USA) and Clinical Professor of Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. Dr Pillai also serves as the senior advisor to Global Virus Network (GVN) in which capacity he was instrumental in setting up the Institute of Advanced Virology( IAV) in Kerala, as part of GVN , a network of 52 leading Virology centers around the world. When fully developed, IAV in Kerala will be India’s prestigious institute to diagnose any viral infection, train Clinical Virology specialists and research scientists, Conduct epidemiological studies in viral diseases, develop anti viral drugs ,promote vaccine research and collaborate with international Virology centers of excellence .On completion of his undergraduate and post graduate medical education at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, he served as a faculty member at Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kottayam medical colleges. He then underwent advanced training in Hematology at Auckland University hospital, New Zealand and later at the Medical college of Virginia, USA. He was a Lt Colonel in the US Airforce Medical Corps, and chief of Hematology /Oncology at the Air Force Medical Centre in Washington DC. Following the Chernobyl accident, US and Russian Governments organized an international conference on Treatment of Radiation Injuries and Dr Pillai was a co-editor of the proceedings. He was Clinical Professors of Medicine at George Washington University and later Director of Virginia Oncology Care before moving to the present position. Among his notable contributions to India were the introduction of Indian Cancer Care Network under Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, inaugurated by the then President Dr A P J Abdulkalam. As the President of Association of Kerala Medical Graduates (AKMG) in North America, he brought to India a combined team of American College of Physicians and the Mayo Clinic to conduct the widely acclaimed Medical Knowledge Self Assessment Program.He has won recognition as an outstanding teacher and clinician. Dr Pillai has received numerous awards for his humanitarian and cultural activities both in in USA and India, which include best Alumnus of Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, Mar Gregorios award, P Kesavadev award etc. As a connoisseur of Malayalam Language and literature, he introduced the concept of “Bhashaykkoru dollar - dollar for my mother tongue”, an on going project of American Malayalees and University of Kerala. Dr Pillai is an invited speaker at many scientific conferences in Oncology and an advisor to medical committees formed by Kerala Government and Government of India.
